Collaborating with our friends at JEXTOBAN Secondary School in Lagos, Nigeria and Greenwich Academics, we organized a 7 course online summer school to keep our mission alive during the summer break. Teaching English, Math, Further Math, Economics, Government, Biology, and Chemistry at the Honors and AP Level, our tutors brought focused curriculum to life in each online classroom. We met many brilliant students, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
Using "Webex", we were able to host highly interactive and collaborative tutor sessions with students in Nigeria. With the help of our IT Professional - Mr. Olalekan Davis Oj. - our team was able to efficiently open, operate, and manage multiple online classrooms each day. Over the course of our month-long program, Right to Learn worked with Mr. Olalekan to prepare and forward Webex classroom links to the over 40 parents with students registered. We were then able to directly schedule and connect tutors into the meeting rooms, where the learning magic happened!
Above you can see an example schedule for the year 11 students (times in EST)! For our program, we ran two classes a day, 4 days a week, at varying levels of difficulty for students in grades 10 - 12. Though online classrooms were separated by grade level, many students challenged themselves by trying out classes at higher grade levels. Class periods typically lasted about 45 minutes.
Until next summer! In the meantime, keep up to date with Right to Learn by subscribing to our newsletter and following us on instagram @righttolearn.us. We would love for you to share in our mission of ensuring that every student has the right to learn.
